The Cultural Journey begins here...
At Olympus, we believe that the success of our employees and the success of our company go hand-in-hand. We are committed to a culture that fully leverages our employee’ talents by promoting an environment where all people can make a difference, be heard, be supported, be developed and be rewarded for their contributions.
In 2007, Olympus embarked on a journey of a formal cultural change process. We acknowledged there were opportunities to improve the way we do things and to make Olympus a better place to work. It was our belief that defining and developing a recognisable culture would enable us to take advantage of these opportunities.
An Achievement Culture
The organization and our employees have collectively decided that an “Achievement” Culture is the best culture for our organisation.
An “Achievement” culture is one in which individuals; teams and the organisation are expected to deliver what they agree to deliver.
Our Values
We have defined five core values which underpin our behaviours and the way we do things at Olympus.
Our Values are:

- We will create the best experience for our customers and we value their experience with us
- People are valued, responsible and each play a role in achieving our success
- Efficiency and effectiveness are core ways of working at Olympus
- We find opportunities to grow and improve our business
We have integrated the values into the business in several ways including performance reviews, recruitment process, employee awards and company strategies.
Cultural Ambassadors
To ensure widespread understanding, acceptance and participation of the new culture, a group of ‘Cultural Ambassadors’ from across the organisation were sourced. Our Cultural Ambassadors reflect a mix of roles, levels and tenure in the organisation.
Each of the Cultural Ambassadors who were selected demonstrated behaviours that we want to replicate or model throughout the company. Typically they were people who demonstrated ‘Above the Line’ behaviour and who had good relationships and a sound understanding of our business.
The role of the Cultural Ambassadors is to support the cultural change at Olympus through participating in and promoting activities that foster the company values and encouraging and informing others. The Cultural Ambassadors play an integral role in ensuring that the cultural change journey is meaningful and relevant at every level throughout the organisation.
Our Future
The cultural change journey is a long and evolving one. We will continue to find ways to improve the way we work, our systems and processes. Likewise we will continue to roll out initiatives to support the culture that we are aspiring to achieve.
