It is important for healthcare personnel performing endoscopy procedures and those overseeing or performing reprocessing of flexible endoscopes, to have a thorough understanding of the steps required to ensure the endoscope is safe and patient ready. This course will provide participants with an overview of the procedure and recommendations for reprocessing Olympus flexible endoscopes. It will also provide information on the proper handling of these endoscopes to minimise damage and reduce repairs. Participants will learn to recognise the important processes required for pre-cleaning, leak testing, manual cleaning, high level disinfection, sterilisation and storage. An overview of flexible endoscope mechanics and nomenclature of endoscopes will also be discussed. Reprocessing demonstration will be provided for commonly used Olympus flexible endoscopes and accessories. This Endoscope Reprocessing Specialist Training is endorsed by ACN according to our Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Endorsed Course Standards. It has been allocated 5 CPD hours according to the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia - Continuing Professional Development Standard.
